manage and reduce the risk of complications

Hemophilia is a genetic disorder, which means it is inherited and cannot be prevented in the traditional sense like some infectious diseases. However, there are ways to manage and reduce the risk of complications through early diagnosis, education, and proper care.

Genetic Counseling

Couples with a family history of hemophilia can consult a genetic counselor.

Prenatal Diagnosis

It is possible to test for hemophilia during pregnancy through special tests like chorionic villus sampling (CVS) or amniocentesis.

Early Diagnosis in Newborns

Early diagnosis allows families to take precautions to avoid injuries and manage bleeding episodes properly.

Preventive Treatment (Prophylaxis)

For those with hemophilia, regular infusions of clotting factor concentrates can prevent bleeding episodes.
